Alan Hagger wins in Amesbury West

31 Mar 2023

Alan Haggar was elected on Tuesday evening after a brilliant campaign.  He and team Amesbury worked unbelievably hard to give people a chance of something different from the Conservative co-opting council.

Victoria Charleston said "I am delighted to have helped Alan, a superb candidate and I know he is going to be a fantastic councillor for Amesbury and its residents."

Candidate Party   Votes
HAGGER, Alan Liberal Democrats 63.4% 472 * Elected
GOLDTHORP, Rita Conservative 36.6% 273
Vacant Seats: 1    Electorate: 4,308    Ballot Papers Issued: 746    Turnout: 17.32 %

The most exciting thing about Amesbury is that eight weeks ago there was nothing happening there at all.  We had not delivered a leaflet in some years and hardly knocked on many doors.  Two of our key campaigners had never canvassed before and yet, they achieved a resounding win on 28th March.

Tim Farron says ‘Pick a ward and win in’. It really can be done.

Thank you to everyone who bundled leaflets, wrote envelopes, delivered literature, knocked on doors, did telling on the day, it is so appreciated.
